In order to investigate the relationship between root yield, sugar content and which sugar yield and the ploidy levels, two diploid varieties and the corresponding triploids were crossed. The results triploid plants along with plants from two other ploidy levels were compared for root yield, sugar content and white sugar yield. The materials were sown using paper pot method. After controlling the chromosome number of seedlings, root yield, sugar content and white sugar yield were determined in the transplanted plants at maturity stage. Results showed that there s no significant differences between different ploidy levels for the mentioned parameters. In some cases, tetraploids produced less root than others, but no significant differences were found for sugar content between them.
