Abstract

This experiment was conducted in five regions of spring sowing of beet cultivation as follow: Karaj, Hamadan, Shiraz, Miandoab and Mashhad for three years. Five levels of potassium (0, 50, 100, 150 & 200 kg/has) from K2SO4 source were applied before sowing. The experiment design was CRBD design with five replications. The results showed that both root yield and sugar yield were affected significantly the potassium treatments and the greatest sugar yield was obtained when 150 kg/ha potassium was applied. Root yield and sugar yield were also affected significantly by location, location treatments, time ×location and treatments × location × time. Sugar content as an important character was not distinguished by potassium, treatment however, other sources of variation were effective on sugar content. It is general concluded that potassium was effective on root yield, but not on sugar content. Therefore sugar yield increased because of root yield increasing.
