Abstract

Researches on pest control methods were carried out for three years (1996-98) in Motahary Research station at karaj. The experiment was conducted in RCBDwith nine treatments and four replications. Nine treatments were applied as follow:
Treatment no. I was as a check, treatment nos.2, 3 and 4 were monogerm sugar beet seed treated with Gaocho, Fibronil and Orten respectively; treatment no. 5 was pelleted seed without ; insecticide, treatments no, 6,7 and 8 were pelleted seed with Caocho, Fibronill and Orten respectively; and treatment no. 9 was sprayed traditionally. Each  plot was contain of 6 rows with ten meter long. In treatment no. 9 Eterimphos 50% with 0002 dosage was used. Reseraches carried out on three species of harmful insects of sugar beet including, beet flea beetle (Chaetocnema tibialis I 11.) beet root weevil (Conorrynchus brevirostris Gyll. ) and beet leaf weevil (lixus incanaescens Bcch.) Percentage of infestation (damaged plants %) was determined caused by each pest. Statiscal analysis of three years data showed that, treatment no. 9 (Usual spraying, local method) was the most effective method for control of beet flea beetle. Treatment no. 6 (Pelleted seed and treated with imidacloprid) had least infestation to beet root weevil and treatments no. 9 (local method) and 3 (treated seed with fibronill) were most effective ways for control of beet leaf weevil.
